Ambassador Oscar Arnold welcomes new Ambassadors from Zambia, Belgium, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia

Ambassador Oscar Arnold, Chief Executive Officer for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, recently welcomed several newly accredited Heads of Mission to Belize for the presentation of copies of their Letters of Credence.

Ambassador Arnold received H.E. Chibamba Kanyama, High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia to Belize; H.E. Patrick Herman, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Belize; H.E. Toferry Primanda Soetikno, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Belize; and H.E. Fahad bin Ali Almunawer, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Belize.

During the engagements, Ambassador Arnold reaffirmed Belize’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation with each of these valued partners. Discussions focused on avenues for bilateral collaboration, shared priorities, and opportunities to deepen engagement through regional and multilateral platforms.

With H.E. Kanyama, discussions highlighted the longstanding friendship between Belize and Zambia as fellow Commonwealth nations, including shared values and preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda.

With H.E. Herman, Ambassador Arnold underscored the longstanding cooperation between Belize and Belgium through joint global initiatives, including collaboration in energy transition and technical training programmes.

With H.E. Soetikno, discussions explored opportunities to enhance Belize–Indonesia relations, including South-South cooperation and collaboration on matters of mutual interest.

With H.E. Almunawer, discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding opportunities for development cooperation between Belize and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the meetings with the Ambassadors of Belgium and Indonesia, Ambassador Arnold also provided updates on the ongoing Belize–Guatemala territorial dispute before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

After their respective bilateral meetings, the new Ambassadors presented their Letters of Credence before H.E. Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor-General of Belize.

The Government of Belize looks forward to working closely with these Missions to further advance cooperation, friendship, and shared interests on the bilateral and international stage.
